In 2012, “Good Kid MAAD City” changed the rap game and made Kendrick Lamar and everyone else involved a bonafide star.
DJ Dahi, who produced the classic “Money Trees”, has since gone on to work with the likes of Drake, Travis Scott and Dr. Dre, as well as remaining a mainstay within TDE.
So how did Money Trees come about? Very simply, Dahi was listening to Dream Pop stalwarts Beach House, and took a liking to track “Silver Soul” off their 2010 album “Teen Dream.” After some messing around, he decided to reverse the opening chord/vocal mix and boom there you have it.
